I was born on August 25, 1976 at the American Baptist Mission Hospital in Moulmein (Mawlamyine), Mon State, Burma (Myanmar). I spent most of my childhood in Mudon, Mon State. I graduated from high school in 1993.
After graduating from high school, I went to Rangoon (Yangon) to study at the Institute of Medicine (2). The school was closed for political reasons in 1996. I then went to the States in 1998 to study at Purdue University in Indiana. I graduated with a degree in Information Systems.
I came back to Burma to teach at the Myanmar Institute of Theology (MIT) at the Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies program. I taught at MIT from December 2002 till December 2004.
In December 2004, I left for Laos to work as a consultant at Digital Divide Data. I worked there for about 5 months and moved to Bangkok. I met Doug Cooper who invited me to work for him at the Center for Research in Computational Linguistics. I also studied at the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok and got my Master's in Computer Science.
I left Bangkok in August 2009 to study at Indiana University for my Master's in Linguistics, emphasizing computational linguistics. In the summer of 2010, I worked at Linguist List as an intern. I came back to work at Linguist List in February, 2010 after getting my M.A. from Indiana University. I have been at Linguist List since then.
